Maggie's Wish Maggie is an unpopular girl who lives in squalor.She attends West Side High School with her best and only friend Sarah and had to stand the group of popular girls called The Pinks. Everyday she thought about her one wish, to cruise down the highway in a little pink convertible with all the popular girls. Since Maggie isn't a popular girl nobody really knows who she is. As the afternoon bell rung, she made her way through the hectic halls to the downstairs lockers to catch up with Sarah. Maggie overheard The Pinks and their peachy boyfriends talking about the hottest pool party of the year. Maggie, wanting to be exactly like them, decided to attend the party and appeal to The Pinks. That night when she was getting ready for the party, Sarah called and asked, " Hey Maggie what are you doing tonight?" "I have to study tonight for a huge test tomorrow so I'll be at home all night," Maggie lied. She strutted down the sidewalk with her usual, casual attire. She felt pretty confident until she arrived and heard The Pinks planning to push Maggie in the pool. It was too late for Maggie to escape because the next thing you knew Maggie was flying into the pool. She quickly jumped out of the pool dripping wet and eluded the party. As she was walking down the street, a scary looking man approached her. The man softly touched her shoulder and that made her jump a little bit. "Are you okay, little lady?" She said nothing and kept walking and she anticipated that the man was still behind her. Then in a soft soothing voice he asked, "If you could make any wish, what would it be". She stood there motionless replied," If I had one wish, I would most defiantly wish to be one of the popular girls, one of The Pinks." He smiles affectionately and walked slowly into the darkness. The next morning, she wakes up and came to school as usual. She felt different and for some reason when she got to school everyone acknowledged her. "Hey Maggs!" said The Pinks who immediately accompanied her. Walking confidently through crowded halls of West Side High, she passed Sarah in the hallway and walked right passed her. At lunch she sat at the cool table with The Pinks and Aaron who she looked at with ecstasy. As the weeks went on Sarah lost all memory of her old friend until one day they got into a brawl, that school morning. After school the quarrel was still going on. They met each other in the quad and continued the argument about how much Maggie has changed. Maggie pushed Sarah to the ground and Sarah tried to inhibit the shove from happening. Sarah ran to her car crying and quickly drove off. Little did Maggie know she had put Sarah's life in jeopardy.When Sarah was on her way home The Pinks boyfriends were driving a hummer too fast. They slammed into Sarah's car and sent it swiveling across the highway. Sarah was sent straight to the hospital and was incredibly injured. They called Maggie and she rushed over to see her old friend. She didn’t know this would be her last moments with her. At Sarah's ceremony Maggie realized she made a huge mistake. She couldn't change the past but she was going to try to change the future.
